self development

My name is Amy Ndiaye. I am currently studying Fashion Technology at HoGent and I have already obtained a diploma in Fashion & Creation. As an assignment, I completed a Belbin test to gain more insight into my role within group work. This type of test helps you discover the qualities a person has when working in a team.

Through this self-reflection, I gained a better understanding of my role within a team. The test results showed the roles of Plant, Team Worker, and Coordinator. My strongest qualities mainly lie in collaborating and guiding people within a group. I recognize myself in these roles and I believe the characteristics suit me well. I like to make sure everyone feels comfortable within a group and that teamwork runs smoothly. As a Plant, I enjoy thinking creatively and coming up with new ideas. Finally, the role of Coordinator also suits me because I like structure in group work and making sure everything runs efficiently.

However, I still want to continue working on my personal development and improve my skills. During group projects, I often notice that I take on too much responsibility. As a result, I end up doing too much work while others have fewer tasks to complete. I also tend to consider other people’s opinions too much, which sometimes makes it difficult for the group to make decisions.

In the future, I want to handle this more consciously. I want to make sure that I do not take over the entire group project myself, but that everyone receives their own responsibilities. In this way, each group member will have the opportunity to complete their task and actively contribute to the final result. In addition, I also want to help the group make decisions and make choices more quickly when necessary. By working on these points, I hope to continue developing myself during my studies and later in my career within the fashion industry.
